What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism is a condition that affects how some people think, learn, play, talk and get along with others.
Autism can look different in every person. Some may talk a lot, some may talk a little and some may not talk at all. Some people with Autism like to do the same things again and again or follow routines.
People with Autism might:
- Find it hard to understand feelings or make friends
- Be really good at certain things, like remembering facts or noticing details
- Feel overwhelmed by loud noises, bright lights, or too much going on
Autism is not something bad, it's just a different way of experiencing the world. With love, support, and understanding, people with Autism can do amazing things.
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a condition that makes it hard for some people to sit still, focus and control their impulses.
People with ADHD might:
- Get distracted easily
- Have trouble finishing tasks
- Feel very active or fidgety
- Say or do things without thinking
ADHD is not anyone’s fault, it’s just the way some brains work. With the right help and support, kids with ADHD can do great in school and life!
What are learning difficulties?
Specific Learning Difficulties
Learning difficulties are when a child finds it harder than others to learn new things, understand information, or keep up in school.
Children with learning difficulties might:
- Struggle with reading, writing, or maths
- Have trouble remembering things
- Find it hard to follow instructions
- Need more time to learn or practice skills
Learning difficulties don't mean a child isn’t smart, it just means they learn in a different way and may need extra help and support to do their best.
